Great Leadership Builds Strong Companies. Strong Governance Makes Them Sustainable.
Shift Works Founder & CEO Anastasios Schinas attended the opening of the second year of Virtual Advisory Board Greece in Athens, joining entrepreneurs, CEOs, investors and business leaders for an evening focused on leadership, governance and sustainable growth.

The event in brief.
On October 13, Shift Works Founder & CEO Anastasios Schinas attended the Virtual Advisory Board Greece event at Buffalo Privé in Athens, marking the beginning of the chapter’s second year.
Attending as a guest of GPA Investment Group , Shift Works joined entrepreneurs, CEOs, investors and business leaders brought together around a shared interest in stronger leadership, effective governance and the future of Greek entrepreneurship.
The evening reinforced an important principle: sustainable growth requires more than ambition.
It requires leadership capable of setting direction, governance capable of creating accountability, and organisations capable of turning vision into action.
Leadership creates momentum. Governance makes it sustainable.
Strong leadership can give an organisation ambition, direction and the confidence to move forward.
But as companies grow, leadership alone is not enough.
Sustainable organisations also require structures that improve decision-making, challenge assumptions, clarify responsibilities and create accountability.
This is where effective corporate governance and well-designed advisory boards become increasingly valuable.
They bring additional experience into the organisation, create space for independent thinking and allow leadership teams to evaluate opportunities and risks from a wider perspective.
Sustainable growth requires more than ambition. It requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, effective governance and the ability to turn vision into action.
Transformation also requires stronger organisations.
At Shift Works, we see the same principle when companies approach technology, Artificial Intelligence and automation.
New technology can create extraordinary opportunities.
But technology on its own does not create sustainable transformation.
The real value appears when technology supports a clear strategy, stronger processes, better decisions and an organisation capable of adapting to change.
An AI platform may improve what is technically possible. Automation may significantly reduce operational effort. New systems may provide management with better information.
But leadership still needs to determine where the organisation is going, how decisions will be made and how new capabilities will translate into measurable business outcomes.
Technology can accelerate a business. Leadership and governance determine where that acceleration takes it.

VAB Greece enters its second year.
The Virtual Advisory Board is an invite-only global community bringing together senior executives, entrepreneurs and industry experts.
Its model focuses on trusted peer relationships, knowledge sharing and the creation of opportunities for executives to contribute through advisory and non-executive board roles.
Founded by David Fernandez and Mark Hamill, the VAB community now connects more than 1,300 executives across 80 countries.
Greece has already developed into one of the community’s strongest chapters, reaching 38 members during its first year.
The Greek chapter is chaired by Anastasios Spanidis , President of GPA Investment Group.
GPA Investment Group is also a strategic partner of the international VAB community.
Connecting leadership, experience and opportunity.
Communities such as VAB create value because they bring different forms of experience into the same room.
Entrepreneurs understand the realities of building. CEOs understand the realities of leading. Investors bring a different perspective on capital, risk and long-term value creation. Board professionals bring governance, accountability and strategic perspective.
Bringing these viewpoints together strengthens the quality of strategic conversations.
It also creates an environment where leadership experience can move beyond individual organisations and contribute to the growth of the wider entrepreneurial ecosystem.
A stronger Greek business ecosystem.
Greece has no shortage of entrepreneurial ambition.
The next stage is to continue strengthening the structures around that ambition: leadership development, governance, access to international experience, stronger networks and the ability to scale organisations professionally.
Initiatives that connect Greek executives with international business communities can play an important role in that development.
They expose leaders to different perspectives, create cross-border relationships and strengthen the connection between Greek entrepreneurship and the wider global business environment.
GPA Investment Group supports VAB as a strategic partner and continues to connect entrepreneurship, investment, operational expertise and international business relationships across its wider ecosystem.
Transformation requires leadership, not just technology.
At Shift Works, we work with organisations at the intersection of business transformation, Artificial Intelligence, technology, processes and people.
But transformation is never simply a technology project.
Sustainable change requires leaders who can make clear decisions, organisations with the right structures, people prepared for new ways of working and technology aligned with real business objectives.
AI and automation can make organisations faster, smarter and more efficient.
Strong leadership and governance help ensure that those capabilities create long-term value.
Strong companies are built for what comes next.
Congratulations to Anastasios Spanidis, the VAB Greece leadership team and the wider Virtual Advisory Board community as the Greek chapter enters its second year.
Our appreciation also goes to GPA Investment Group for the invitation and for continuing to support initiatives that strengthen the connection between Greek entrepreneurship and international business networks.
The future belongs to organisations that combine visionary leadership, responsible governance and the courage to embrace transformation.
